Farmers see first-hand how
Biological Management builds soil quality and helps to curtail insect, disease and weed
pressures -- producing a

PART III:
Seven Simple
Strategies to Save on Farm Input Costs
Balancing a field's soil biology and
chemistry with proper nutrition decreases the dependency and need for chemicals
by 10% to 30% because healthy, nutritionally balanced plants are more resistant
to stress from drought, weeds, disease and insect attacks.
The best way to protect your crops
from falling victim to bug pressure is to "disguise" the voice of the plant.
Insects and diseases are opportunists who find their hosts by “listening" for
imbalance. A plant weakened by poor soil conditions actually emits a
signal insects recognize as food. An insect can't recognize the
frequency of a healthy plant however, and will pass it up in favor of the weak
or infirmed every time.
According to Dr. Bruce Tanio, one of the nation's leading biologists, “If you
balance the nutrition in the plant -- no insect in the world will attack that
plant.”
Feed the Soil
to and Allow the Soil to Feed the Plant
Research
has shown that growers who use a natural, enzyme-rich bio stimulant like
PS-Foundation
1-0-1
to the feed the soil and allow the "soil to feed the plant"
are routinely able to reduce herbicide, pesticide and fertilizer rates by 10% or
more per acre with the first application and 30% per acre over three years --
without losing yield.
Oklahoma producer Brett Porter says that by using
Pro-Soil on his
alfalfa, he profits more per acre on the increased tonnage, alone.
"Pro-Soil biologicals are a top priority on my farm. After
three years, biologicals allowed me to cut
back on fertilizer and
reduce herbicides and
pesticides 30%."
"Use soil treatments
for prevention -
insecticides for relief. "

TIP! Apply your Bio Program
whenever you use liquid fertility, pesticides or herbicides.
Combining
operations saves time, energy and equipment costs. Also, when
Pro-Soil is mixed with herbicides, herbicide efficiency is improved and
plant stress, resulting from herbicide intake, is reduced or eliminated. |

"My
crops no longer respond to recommended fertilizer rates. I've
tried adding more fertility but it doesn't help. Soil tests show adequate
nutrient levels, but my yields continue to suffer. What could be the
cause?"

RAY:
If you're adding fertility to a
soil that has good nutrient reserves and the field is not responding
favorably, it's likely
you have a developed a
chronic absorption deficiency. In other words, there are plenty of
nutrients in the soil -- but something is hindering those
nutrients from releasing and becoming plant-available. If this is the
case,
no amount of fertility is going to correct the problem.
Your only
solution is to:
1) Soften and
mellow the existing topsoil
2) Increase the
root structure on the crop
3) Improve the
biological complexity
that exists within your soil |
