Farmers using Pro-Soil's STARTER PRO (1-3-1) for a year or more tell us they consider it to be the most important part of their farming operation.

Here are the top five reasons we hear most often:

“It significantly softens topsoil which reduces plow-pan compaction helping water and nutrients penetrate and become plant available," says long-time client Brett Porter. Brett, who grows wheat and alfalfa in Oklahoma, says with Starter Pro he was able to sink a soil probe 18" where it would barely go six inches deep before. "We also have virtually no standing water, our yields have increased and we're using less fertilizer and chemicals," he says.

“It increases root depth and mass allowing for more water and nutrients to come in contact with the plant which helps to return more crop residue into organic matter,” says Mark Schmitmeyer, a corn producer from Versailles, Ohio. "Our first year the roots actually doubled in size where we had the product."

“It makes fertilizer more efficient according to Oklahoma wheat producer Mike Black, who says Starter Pro "improves the uptake and efficiency of everything we apply to our soils, including; fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides."  Mike says the root systems in his fields and his yields are "a WHOLE lot bigger" since he started using started using the product.

“It helps plants grow to full potential, allowing a much greater chance for yield increase, especially during stress periods,”  says Rod Mace, from Park County, Indiana. “We saw a huge difference the first year - better yields, higher test weights, excellent plant health, and unbelievable root mass and nitrogen fixing nodes ... the best we have ever seen."

“It pays for itself,” says Texas wheat producer, Ronnie Swan. “From day one the product has never cost me money. I subtracted enough out of my inputs to cover the cost and my yields and test weights increased the first year.

“I won't plant another acre without it!” -- Brad C., Rozel, Kansas

Apply 12.8 fluid ounces per acre or 1 gallon per 10 acres to a moist soil or incorporate.  Can be tank mixed with most liquid fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides.  Use in conjunction with a good soil test and soil fertility program. >> TIP! The most significant results on corn & soybeans have come with an in-furrow application at 12.8 to 16 ounces per acre. For wheat, growers with liquid kits on their drills use Starter Pro at 12.8 ounces per acre in conjunction with starter fertilizer.
