Biologically balanced
soils produce strong wheat stands and stalks. This field of
Jagger wheat yielded 113 bushels per acre with a test weight of 66.3
lbs. per bushel. (Bink Farms - Hobart, OK) |

2008 Winter Wheat Recap
A
Banner Year of Bumper Crops
It's been a banner year of bumper
crops for biologically managed wheat farms. Here's a short recap:
In Oklahoma, John Bink, of Hobart,
and Randall Base, near Geary, both cut their
highest yielding wheat ever -- averaging 80 and
50-plus bushels per acre respectively. Chris and
Mike Black harvested an average of over 50 bushels
per acre on their farm near Cordell; and in Hobart,
Oklahoma, Brett Porter cut a 47
bushel average. Further
North in Harper, Kansas, Sam and Wayne
Drouhard's wheat averaged 50 bushels per
acre and Brad and Joe Colglazier's averaged 50-plus.
In Indiana, Ron Small had a
wheat crop that yielded
an 80-plus bushels per acre
average.

2 0% to 25% More Pods
on Soybeans

"After I applied the product, the plants shot up 6 inches, and turned
the darkest green practically overnight. Best of all, the Pro-Soil treated beans contained a good 20% to 25% more pods
than my non-treated beans. They're filling all the way to the top of
the plant. As a matter of fact, it's as if the treated plants had
changed to a completely different bean variety."

"We
don't have a liquid kit on our drill, but would still
like to apply Pro-Soil on our winter wheat.
What
are our options?"

RAY:
With
the increasing cost per unit of fertilizer many wheat
producers have started to put liquid kits on their drills.
This is an excellent time to mix
Pro-Soil Starter Pro 1-3-1
with a starter fertilizer or with 28% or 32%. But there are other choices for wheat growers who do not have
liquid kits.
Ways to apply Pro-Soil products on Winter wheat:
1. Seed Treatment - You
can apply the PS-Foundation directly to the seed at 8 oz.
per 100 lbs. or roughly 4.5 oz. per bushel. This is the most
economical way to apply the product on wheat and it insures
that you have the energy of the stimulant working for you
prior to the seed germinating. DO NOT MIX GAUCHO TOGETHER
WITH THE PRO-SOIL PRODUCTS.
2.
Broadcast Immediately prior
to sowing. 12.8 ozs. as close to sowing as possible.
3.
Broadcast after wheat is up
and actively growing. 12.8 ozs. after the wheat has come
up and preferably with some 28% or 32%. We still have quite
a few growers who use this method of application. It is also
good if you can time this with some potential moisture.

** Remember ** Your early application
of Pro-Soil stimulant is designed to create additional nutrition and
stimulation for germination and emergence as well as help set early
potential for upcoming tiller sites. We also recommend you apply the
Pro-Soil Triple 3 Vital Boost with your top dress program to help
complete the potential fill of the grain sites. |
